The fine print

Terms

Last updated October 19, 2026

The short version
  • Your plan is a planning tool, not an official record. Always check with your advisor and your school's degree audit before you register.
  • You're responsible for the classes you sign up for.
  • Not right? Tell us within 7 days and we'll fix it or refund you.
  • Your plan and your information stay yours. Our Privacy page explains how we handle them.

These terms cover your use of myacadema.com and the degree plan we build for you. By ordering a plan or signing in, you agree to them. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian needs to agree to them too.

What Academa is

Academa builds a personal degree plan from the degree audit you send us and your school's published catalog. Your plan shows your requirements, lays them out by semester, and helps you build a schedule for registration.

Not official, and not advising

Academa isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any university. Your plan isn't your school's degree audit, and it isn't academic advising.

Schools change requirements, prerequisites, course offerings and seat counts, sometimes after we've built your plan. We work hard to get it right, but we can't promise your plan is complete, current or error-free, or that following it will get you to graduation on a particular date. Your school's degree audit and your advisor have the final word. Check with them before you register, declare or drop a program, and you're responsible for the classes you take.

Your account

You sign in with an emailed link or with Google. Keep access to your email account secure, since anyone who can open your email can sign in to your plan. Give us accurate information and send your own degree audit, not someone else's.

You can invite other people, like a parent, to see or edit your plan. You're responsible for who you invite, and you can remove them anytime.

Price, updates and refunds

A plan is $50 per student and includes 2 updates: send us a new degree audit and we'll refresh your plan. Additional updates are $15 each. You can always mark classes done yourself at no charge.

If your plan isn't right, tell us within 7 days of getting it and we'll fix it or refund your $50. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Beta testers get their plan free. Beta plans work the same way, and we may ask for feedback.

How long your plan stays available

Your plan stays available while you're working toward your degree at the school it was built for. If we ever have to stop offering Academa, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice so you can save a copy of your plan.

Using it fairly

Your plan is for you and the people you share it with. Please don't resell it, copy the planner to build your own product, try to get into other students' plans, or interfere with the site.

The planner, its design and the Academa name and logo belong to Academa. The information about your courses and grades belongs to you.

Limits on our responsibility

We provide Academa as it is. To the extent the law allows, Academa isn't responsible for indirect losses, like an extra semester, a missed class or a delayed graduation, and the most we'll owe you for any claim is what you paid us for your plan. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Ending your account

You can close your account anytime by emailing us. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms. When an account is closed, we delete it as described on our Privacy page.

Changes

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For changes that matter, we'll email you before they take effect.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.
